Project
Awulla Close
Seeking a coastal refresh to their existing backyard and pool area Angela and Tye Atkinson engaged Outdoor Oasis to create a luxury resort-style feel to their family home. The family wanted to open up the pool area by expanding the yard and changing the use of the space around the pool. The brief received was clear: resort style with white tones.
Outdoor Oasis devised a layout that changed the way individuals walked into the yard from the entrance, this way visitors would turn right and walk through the yard to the front door, rather than straight into the pool space. The newly created walkway was designed with large format concrete steppers and zoysia tenuifolia (no mow grass) for a contemporary path through the yard to the house. Elevating the pool’s aesthetic, the team changed the colour of the pool’s pebblecrete from a warm yellow, to a crisp white. Staying true to the brief, cigar palms invoked a resort feel while creating privacy from surrounding neighbours. Although it took the team a 4m truck and large crane to install, the house’s luxe, “beachy” aesthetic was complete by the installation of a large palm tree standing tall at the entrance,
